HVAR ISLAND in Croatia, known in antiquity as Pharos, is a jewel, classed among the ten most beautiful islands of the world. The small city of Hvar is situated on a deep, round bay, whose wide, embracing arms welcome the traveller who approaches from the sea. Its history is engraved in its marble-white stone and the sound from its campaniles is its ubiquitous music. Mostly Renaissance, the city has a unique Franciscan monastery (16th century) where its musical heart beats all summer long.

The archipelago of Hvar offers the visitor the opportunity to enjoy the deep silence and wondrous beauty of its national parks. This special place is host to an inspiring, non-competitive Chamber Music Academy. The small number of participants enjoy the intensive attention of master musicians in a harmonious, collegial group. Each participant’s unique musical talents are recognized and cultivated.

Lessons are held in the 17th-century Venetian Loggia (pictured below) and participants reside close by in the very heart of the city. Participants also have access to a kitchen, gardens and flower-covered balconies. Practice studios are located next to the Loggia.
